I do not have a herp collection to loan, but I wanted to use this forum to post a question about teaching herp specimens in the lab. Although some preserved specimens work well to teach morphological characteristics of these critters, others are not even close to representing what the color, body posture, etc. would look like, out in the field. I have wanted to have access to replica specimens of herps that show detailed body features (size, color, grooves, scutes, scale rows, etc. etc.), but my searches have all been in vain. Does anyone know of a source where such specimens can be obtained? For skull ID in lab, we not only use real specimens but also use Bone Clones. Is there any company similar to this that provide herp clones?
