Summer Part-time Field Assistants Raleigh/Durham, NC
We are seeking part-time Field Assistants for summer field research in Raleigh/Durham, North Carolina. The project examines the effects of urbanization on multispecies plant-animal interactions with Lynn Adler (UMass-Amherst), Paige Warren (UMass-Amherst), Rebecca Irwin (Dartmouth), and Adrian Carper (Dartmouth). Field sites are located in Raleigh/Durham and surrounding areas.
Field Assistants are needed to assist in collecting fruits from plants that were part of a spring research project. Assistants will be trained by an experienced field researcher from the spring, but the ideal applicants will be able to work independently after training. Previous experience in field biology or plant-insect interactions is preferred but not required. Advanced undergraduates or individuals with a BA or BS in a relevant field are encouraged to apply. Salary is $10 per hour without benefits.
The positions are available from June through August 2010. Applicants should be able to work one day per weekend on the following dates: June 26-27, July 10-11, July 17-18, August 7-8; and/or be able to work full-time August 16-27 (M-F only). Additional work during the week or on other weekends is also welcome provided the applicant can provide transportation (mileage will be reimbursed). Due to the part-time nature of the position, we do not provide relocation or housing costs for non-local applicants.
