A PhD research assistantship is available in the Hoffmann lab in the
Department of Plant Biology at North Carolina State University. This
position is part of a larger effort to understand the mechanisms that
drive vegetation-fire feedbacks in longleaf pine savannas. The student
will undertake research on 1) physiological mechanisms of plant responses
to fire or 2) effects of fire on plant population dynamics. This position
will pay tuition, fees, and a stipend of approx. $20,000. For more
information on the graduate program, see
http://www.cals.ncsu.edu/plantbiology/gradprograms.html. Applications
should be submitted online at http://www.ncsu.edu/grad/applygrad.htm.
Review of applications will begin on January 15, but applications will be
considered until a suitable applicant is recruited. NCSU has a large and
distinguished community of over 110 ecologists and evolutionary biologists
distributed over 15 departments in three colleges.
