Endowed Chair in Environmental Studies, University of Colorado-Boulder

PROFESSOR OR ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR. The University of Colorado seeks a 
distinguished scholar or 
scholar/practitioner with demonstrated excellence in interdisciplinary 
research, teaching, and/or 
professional activity to serve as the first Colorado Chair in Environmental 
Studies. An appointment 
with tenure at the Professor level is anticipated, but exceptional candidates 
at the Associate 
Professor level will be considered. The successful candidate will have 
demonstrated commitment 
to an interdisciplinary approach to research and education in environmental 
studies and will 
contribute expertise and leadership to our thriving undergraduate and graduate 
programs.   

A PhD or equivalent doctoral degree in disciplines related to environmental 
studies, and a record 
of outstanding accomplishments related to environmental studies, are required. 
Candidates must 
possess a distinguished record of scholarly or professional activity and 
evidence of current 
scholarly or professional activity, and clear indication of strong leadership 
skills.

The Environmental Studies program at CU-Boulder is a dynamic, internationally 
recognized 
program with a dedicated core faculty, 55 graduate students, and over 900 
undergraduate majors 
(http://envs.colorado.edu/about/). Current areas of emphasis include energy, 
environmental 
politics and policy, climate dynamics, biogeochemistry, resource economics, 
environmental ethics, 
environmental science, natural resources, and sustainability. Applicants from 
these fields as well as 
other areas within environmental studies, broadly defined, are encouraged to 
apply. Faculty and 
students actively partner in research with scholars from CU centers and 
institutes, including the 
Institute for Behavioral Sciences, CIRES, INSTAAR, Center of the American West, 
and Center for 
Values and Social Policy; as well as with scholars from other organizations 
near Boulder such as 
NOAA, NCAR, NREL, NEON, and USGS.
