Overview:
CGI America is a project of the Clinton Global Initiative (CGI) that convenes 
the public, private, and 
not-for-profit communities to address social and economic challenges facing the 
United States 
today. Each year, CGI America convenes 1,000 thought leaders and doers 
(“attendees”) in a two-
day conference. Attendees self-select into one of twelve working groups, which 
aim to identify 
opportunities for engagement, largely through CGI’s Commitments to Action 
model. Each working 
group convenes three to four times during the two-day conference and on 
average, consists of 80 
attendees. These sessions are designed to maximize participant interaction with 
an emphasis on 
creating solutions. (A list of the 2011 working groups can be found here.)
 
The Working Group Associate/Manager will be responsible for identifying topics 
and advisors for 
two working groups. S/he will take responsibility of one, while transitioning 
the second to a five-
month Working Group Consultant. For the primary topic, s/he will recruit 
relevant attendees, 
establish the program for working group sessions at the two-day conference; 
develop new 
Commitments to Action (“commitments”); and review annual progress on ongoing 
commitments. 
The Associate/Manager will work closely with other Working Group 
Associates/Managers to shape 
a cohesive message on CGI America’s goals for each year. The Associate/Manager 
also will serve as 
point of contact for consultant(s) and intern(s), and collaborate across the 
greater CGI team, 
including Program, Membership, Sponsorship, and Marketing & Communications, to 
execute 
Working Group responsibilities.
Responsibilities:
Develop program content
·         Identify topics and advisors for two working groups
·         Transition one topic to Working Group Consultant and serve as his/her 
internal point of 
contact
·         With selected advisor group, develop goals and objectives of working 
group and create three 
to four sessions for two-day conference
·         Conduct pre-calls with working group topic participants
·         Work with Communications & Marketing to message working group topic 
to wider audience
·         Contribute to overall program development for CGI America, including 
research on potential 
topics for plenary sessions and identification of relevant speakers
 
Recruit and manage attendee relationships
·         Work with Logistics Manager, other Working Group Associates/Managers, 
and Membership 
department to develop priority recruitment list for working group(s)
·         Conduct strategic outreach (i.e. emails, phone calls) to recruit 
attendees
·         Serve as main point of contact for working group attendees by 
disseminating information 
related to logistics, media opportunities, and potential partnerships
 
Develop and manage Commitments to Action
·         Work with attendees to identify appropriate Commitments to Action
·         Review annual progress reports on ongoing commitments
·         Propose outstanding commitments for featuring opportunities at the 
CGI America meeting 
and for other exposure, including CGI online stories, pitches to press, 
briefing documents
·         Adhere to information management processes related to commitment 
development and 
tracking
 
Execute on-site responsibilities
·         Determine appropriate room set-up and AV requirements
·         Prepare meeting materials including agendas, commitment examples, 
relevant handouts, etc.
·         Ensure program participants (i.e. moderator, table facilitators) are  
informed and prepared for 
designated roles
·         Manage flow of sessions
Qualifications:
Minimum Requirements
·         Bachelor’s degree required; Master's degree preferred
·         Minimum of two years experience in general project management and/or 
policy related to 
social, economic, environmental, and/or political issues of the United States; 
title and 
compensation will be reflective of past work experience and educational 
background
·         Strong knowledge of the implementation of such programs in the 
business, nonprofit, and 
public sectors, including key players and constituencies
·         Experience in developing and managing relationships with diverse 
groups and individuals
·         Knowledge of Microsoft Office tools required; knowledge of Raiser's 
Edge or other relational 
databases preferred
·         Event planning experience preferred

Physical Requirements
·         May require travel, which may require walking distances, lifting, and 
carrying luggage and 
boxes, and prolonged periods of sitting in tight quarters
·         Significant computer work, which may require repetitive motion, 
prolonged periods of 
sitting, and sustained visual and mental applications and demands
·         Occasional lifting (> 15 lbs), bending, pulling, collating/filing, 
and occasional lifting, 
carrying, and/or moving boxes, files, etc., some of which could be heavy or 
require the use of carts
