>>>>>>> Recruitment Notice New York State Department of Environmental Conservation Division of Fish, Wildlife and Marine Resources Title: Research Scientist 2 Toxicology Salary: SG-22 - $63,041 - $79,819 per year Location: Albany, NY Duties: Act as project leader for a U.S. EPA grant funded project to determine and evaluate contaminant levels of legacy and emerging contaminants in fish from New York's Great Lakes and associated water bodies. Conduct all aspects of the project including data management and analysis, comparisons with historical data, quality assurance, report and publication writing, grant management, and establishment of contracts; coordinate fish collection, laboratory contaminant analysis and grant renewal applications. The focus will be on understanding the ecological context of contaminants in multiple fish species with respect to past levels and current spatial patterns, and evaluation of the long term effectiveness of Great Lakes clean up. The position is funded through May 31, 2013, with extension possible through continued grant funding of projected 4.5 year project. Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree and three years of professional research experience in toxicology, ecotoxicology, fisheries, ecology, environmental science, chemistry, biology, or related field; or master's degree and two years of professional research experience in one of these fields; or doctorate degree in one of these fields. Preferred Qualifications: Ability to perform environmental research projects from data analysis through authorship of scientific papers and reports. Strong scientific writing skills, ability to perform statistical analyses, knowledge of relational database programs and SQL, database management and quality control skills, ability to coordinate project activities with multiple collaborators, knowledge of environmental toxicology, ability to conduct field research and collect fish.
