The University of Tennessee at Martin's Reelfoot Lake Environmental Field 
Station(RLEFS) is pleased to announce it's Maymester and Summer 2012

Courses being offered:  

Aquatic Macroinvertebrates – May 14-June 1(Mon.-Thur., full day)

structure, classification, ecology and identification. Prerequisites: 
introductory biology or permission of instructor.

Freshwater Algae – June 4-July 6 (Mon., Wed., and alternate Fridays, full 
day)
BOT 305 – 3 semester hours

freshwater algae. Prerequisites: introductory biology or permission of

Field Ornithology – June 4-July 6 (Tue., Thur., and alternate Fridays,

A study of the identification, classification, diversity and ecology of 
birds. Prerequisites: introductory biology or permission of instructor.

*Aquatic Algae and Field Ornithology may be taken concurrently

Reelfoot Lake, the largest natural lake in Tennessee, was formed by the 
New Madrid Earthquakes of 1811-1812. The lake and its surroundings include 
many unique aquatic, terrestrial and wetland environments as well as 
distinctive geological phenomena.
