RESEARCH ASSOCIATE POST DOC – TREE FLORAL BIOLOGY/BIOTECHNOLOGY; OUTREACH. Genetic modification of poplar, sweetgum, and eucalypt for ecological containment; optional biotechnology outreach. Two postdoctoral positions are available at Oregon State University to work on studies related to floral molecular biology, transgenic biotechnology, and genomics. Research includes analysis of gene expression and floral morphology in transgenic trees with diverse sterility transgenes; selection of target genes and development of new transgenic constructs from transcriptome databases; and design and analysis of zinc finger and TALEN mutagenesis of floral genes. Depending on interests and background, possible involvement in ongoing epigenomic studies in poplar. One position has roughly 25% work in general crop biotechnology outreach (http://oregonstate.edu/orb/), including web site maintenance, grant writing, and social media development.
