The Quinney College of Natural Resources will award 3 Ph.D. Fellowships for students beginning Summer/Fall 2013. Fellowships include 4 years of support at $20,000 per year, tuition, and research expenses. Successful applicants can work with any faculty member in any of the three departments: Environment and Society, Watershed Sciences, or Wildland Resources (see http://www.cnr.usu.edu/). Review of Fellowship applications is based on the quality of the student’s application materials as well as clear evidence of strong support from the faculty advisor (1) demonstrating a commitment to mentoring the student through to successful completion and (2) documenting how the applicant will fit into and contribute to the professor’s research program. Thus, these Fellowships will be awarded to a student‐faculty team rather than simply to the student. Consequently, it is crucial to begin communicating with potential faculty advisors soon. Completed applications must be submitted by the advisor by 25 January 2013 in order to be guaranteed consideration. A complete application will include: 1) A letter of interest from the student applicant. 2) Letter of strong support from the major advisor. 3) A current Curriculum Vitae from the student applicant. 4) A completed graduate school application.
