Hello all, I am considering buying a scanner for quick scanning of leaves in the field, where I can run it entirely off a small laptop or even without the laptop. I was wondering whether anyone had good (or bad!) experiences with particular models or varieties. In particular, I wonder if the small "sheetfeed" type would be suitable. It is hard to tell from Amazon reviews, as we ecologists seem to have different needs than the average person (is a leaf more like a receipt or a photo?).
Something like this ( http://www.amazon.com/Ion-iSC08-Document-Scanner/product-reviews/B004Y5APDY/ref=cm_cr_pr_btm_link_3?ie=UTF8&pageNumber=3&showViewpoints=0) seems quite promising - as it stores directly to an SD card, which can be saved/offloaded later. Any input would be most appreciated! Thanks, Eric LoPresti UC Davis, Dept. Entomology
