Assistant Professor in Soil Biology at Michigan State University 

The Department of Plant, Soil and Microbial Sciences at Michigan State
University invites applications for a 9-month, tenure-track Assistant
Professor Position in Soil Biology (75% research and 25% teaching) to begin
August, 2014.  The successful candidate is expected to develop a vigorous
research program in soil biology, including research in managed cropping
systems. Examples of research areas include ecological approaches to
improving soil quality; roles of soil organisms in carbon and nutrient
cycling; and the impacts of changing climate and management practices on
soil community dynamics and ecosystem function. Teaching includes an
undergraduate course in soil biology and contribution to a graduate course.
Applicants must have a doctorate in soil biology or a closely related field
and show evidence of excellence in research and teaching.  Postdoctoral
experience, evidence of scholarly activities, and a demonstrated ability to
obtain competitive external grants are desirable.  Qualified individuals
