Chemical Ecology University of California, Davis The Entomology and Nematology Department seeks applicants for a Chemical Ecologist at the Assistant Professor level. This is an academic year (9-month) tenure track position that includes the expectation that the appointee will conduct mission-oriented research and outreach of relevance to the California Agricultural Experiment Station. We seek an outstanding applicant with a Ph.D. degree in Entomology and Nematology, Microbiology or closely related field. Postdoctoral experience is desirable.
Research should address chemical ecology relevant to arthropods or nematodes. Research experience should document expertise in the application of modern methodologies to the advancement of basic biology, and the capacity to develop information germane to the management of pests affecting agriculture and/or native plant communities. Qualified applicants will have the capacity to apply contemporary experimental and computational approaches to the study of chemical ecology focusing on arthropod and/or nematodes. We seek an individual with interests in chemical ecology who can exploit opportunities to collaborate with existing research programs in ecology, biochemistry, molecular biology or natural products chemistry in the Department of Entomology and Nematology and on the UC Davis campus in general. Teaching is assigned by the department chair and will be in the area of expertise of the successful candidate, at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, and will include participation in the department’s existing curriculum. Supervision of graduate students, student advising, curricular development, and participation in University service and outreach programs are expected.
