For more information visit our website: www.sacredheart.edu/esm The Environmental Science & Management (ESM) program offers an interdisciplinary master’s degree whose graduates will be well equipped to confront the challenging environmental problems of the future. Grounded in the basic sciences, the curriculum prepares students to understand the complex interactions between the living and non-living portions of the environment and the dramatic role that human activity has on determining the ultimate nature of the environment in which we live. A unique feature of the program is the employment of a case study/problem solving approach to instruction that will incorporate close teamwork. In addition, quantitative reasoning is embedded throughout the program, fostering the type of practical applied mathematics skills that professionals in the environmental field require to succeed. Resume building experiences in GIS, field census techniques, and environmental sampling with QAPP. ESM graduates will also have received extensive training in the use of modern analytical instrumentation and digital field data collection equipment in our newly renovated and equipped teaching and research laboratories. All students gain research and/or internship experience.
