*Islands Communications Assistant*

Salary: Unpaid Internship

The Global Island Partnership (GLISPA) assists islands in addressing one of
the world's greatest challenges -- to conserve and sustainably utilize
invaluable island natural resources that support people, cultures and
livelihoods in their island homes around the world. GLISPA seeks a
self-motivated individual who is passionate about communications to support
us in our efforts to promote conservation of island biodiversity and
sustainable livelihoods.

Responsibilities include:

   1. Manage the GLISPA website including new content development
   2. Coordinate social media including Twitter and Facebook
   3.  Support the identification, review and sharing of island bright
   spots in conservation of island biodiversity and sustainable livelihoods
   4. Develop consolidated posting for the GLISPA-discuss listserv
   5.  Support efforts to prepare for the International Year of Small
   Island Developing States in 2014
   6. Support the program implementation of PCI Media Impact's My Island My
   Community: a strategic communications for behavior change program in the
   Caribbean.

GLISPA interns have opportunities to:

   - Attend seminars and conferences sponsored by the UN and related NGOs
   and related workshops of interest
   - Work with leading experts and professionals in the fields of
   biodiversity conservation and sustainable development
   - Expand into working on initiatives/projects Partnership given
   successful performance

Qualifications:

   -   Some experience in using online website content management systems,
   specifically Joomla
   -  Basic graphic design
   -  Be fluent in English
   - An interest or background in communications, conservation of
   biodiversity and sustainable livelihoods on islands.
