Hello,

I graduated from college in December 2012 with a degree in environmental
conservation, and I am still having trouble looking for a job in
conservation or ecology. Part of the problem is that where I live is in the
middle of what I like to call the oil belt of Texas. Most people seem
alarmed when I tell them what my degree is in. I have started an online
graduate school in environmental policy, but I did online so that I could
hopefully start working sooner rather than later. I am moving to either the
Houston or Austin area soon, so hopefully that will help. I have sent
applications and resumes hither and yon, but I always get the response that
I do not have enough experience. I would love to apply for internships, but
there is no way I could afford to be out of work long enough to do most
internship.

Now, I obviously do not expect to get a job offer through posting this,
although I would be okay with that, but I really would appreciate any help
or guidance from people who clearly know much better than I where to find
these jobs. I have considered finding somewhere to volunteer on the weekends
like the Austin or Houston Zoos. My main interests are in plant ecology,
restoration ecology, habitat management, and wildlife environmental policy.
Again, any help or advice provided will be very appreciated.
