January 12-16, 2015 University of Arizona Tucson, Arizona A few spaces are left - registration closes on December 10! Summary: The Hands-on Workshop on Near-Surface Geophysics for Hydrology will introduce participants to several key methods of near-surface geophysics and their application to hydrology and critical zone processes. Techniques covered will include: * Seismic refraction * Ground-penetrating radar * Electrical resistivity * Magnetics * Electromagnetic induction The course will combine lecture and hands-on instruction with state-of-the-art geophysical equipment and software. Field trips will be taken to collect field data at the Catalina Critical Zone Observatory near Tucson, Arizona; the data collected will then be analyzed during the course. Participants will also travel to the Biosphere2 facility in Oracle, AZ for a lecture and hands-on training. For additional information and to register, visit the event website<http://www.cvent.com/d/q4q696>. Graduate students, post-docs, and professionals working in hydrology, geology, ecology and geophysics are invited to participate. No prior experience in geophysics is required. **CUAHSI has a very limited number of student travel grants still available to assist with the cost of travel to the workshop. Grants are available on a first come, first served basis. If interested, contact [email protected]<mailto:[email protected]> - don't wait! ** ----------------------- Questions?
