Marek Landscaping, LLC is a design-build company founded in 1996 that promotes sustainable design and construction and stewardship of the land. With low-impact design methods, we use native plants and natural materials to design and construct ecologically functional systems for aquatic, wetland, prairie, and woodland restorations, shoreline stabilizations, stormwater solutions, green roofs and walls, multi-use trails, public parks, and landscapes. We also develop and implement land management plans for these projects, ensuring long-term health and viability.
We are currently seeking an Estimator. Job duties include: - Interpret plans, specifications, proposals, and other documentation to determine work scope and prepare time, material, and labor estimates for projects, or services. - Implementing estimating and project management knowledge to assist designers and foreman with project management. - Seek out and prepare construction project bidding. - Prepare field folders [work orders, materials lists, and productivity]. - Order materials and equipment and coordinate with field crew. - Attend jobsite walkthroughs, inspections, and pre-bid meetings as needed. - Review data to determine material and labor requirements and prepare itemized lists. - Select vendors and/or subcontractors, and determine cost effectiveness. - Manage all bid communication including addenda and RFI. - Consult with clients and/or vendors to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues. - Prepare written proposals and breakdowns as needed. - Sell proposals and negotiate with clients to turn estimates into contracts. - Review, compare, and reconcile contracts to ensure that they conform to our bids and prepare them for review by designers or Vice President. - Develop contract worksheets and budgets with cost and profit margins for projects. - Conduct pre-construction meetings to transfer vital project information to field crew. - Review and quantify project change orders and revisions as required. - Update and maintain bid, change order, and project management logs. - Review subcontracts and change orders produced by Contract Administration and ensure they are executed in a timely fashion. - Meet with clients to review and explain project cost, extras, and change orders. Qualifications: - Minimum 5 years of professional estimating experience. - Bachelor’s Degree in a related field. - Experience with field monitoring and reporting. - Proficiency in computing square and lineal footages, quantities, and other mathematical computations required to perfect an accurate estimate. - Proficiency with MS Office and QuickBooks. - Knowledge of State of Wisconsin and federal prevailing wage law and sales tax. - Landscape construction knowledge preferred. - Competence in reading and understanding plans sets and specifications. - Capacity to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously within tight deadlines. - Ability to prioritize job responsibilities and to analyze and solve problems.
