I am seeking datasets for use in prototyping a database of body stoichiometry data. Once the mechanics of the database have been fine-tuned, the datasets will be made publically available, both in their original form and as part of the database that merges the individual datasets. After database development, additional dataset submissions will be encouraged - ideally, this is to be a comprehensive repository of body stoichiometry data.
I plan to build the database in conjunction with a meta-analysis of body stoichiometry data from aquatic organisms. However, stoichiometry data from all types of organisms are welcome in the database. The datasets should contain the following elements at a minimum: species name (scientific and common) or lowest taxonomic identification, and body elemental content (as a percent of dry mass and/or molar ratio between elements). Any additional information relevant to body stoichiometry (e.g., organism dry mass, location/habitat, diet, sex, etc.) should be included when available. Permission If you are willing to share your dataset, please send the following from an email account you commonly use for professional work. I grant Ann Showalter permission to: 1. Copy and share datasets I provide her with the general public in their original form and as part of a larger database, at no cost, and with no legal or technological restrictions preventing further use. 2. Adapt, remix, transform, and add to the datasets. 3. Use the dataset and analyses for any purpose. I understand that Ann Showalter promises to: 1. Provide appropriate credit to the creator(s) of the dataset, including publication reference and required acknowledgement of funding sources. 2. Require anyone who uses any of the datasets to comply with these same requirements of use and attribution with no additional restrictions, including prohibitions against legal terms or technological measures that would prevent others from doing anything the license permits. Further, I understand: 1. This permission carries no warranties. 2. This permission may not cover all uses, such as rights of publicity, privacy, or moral rights. 3. Sending this permission from an account associated with my professional identity and my typed name constitutes a legal signature for the purposes of this permission. This language is based on the Creative Commons 4.0 Attribution-ShareAlike license<http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0/>. If you prefer, you may send an email stating that the data is licensed under that Creative Commons license. Please describe each dataset: - Creators (who is responsible for the dataset): - Dataset title (brief description to identify and distinguish this dataset from others): - Associated publication information, if applicable (author(s), year, title, journal name, volume, page numbers): - Funding or sponsorship information (granting agency, grant number): - Dates data collected: - Whether organisms were field-captured or laboratory-reared: - For field-captured organisms, places data collected: - File name: Datasets may be submitted as an Excel spreadsheet, a comma or tab delimited file, or an Access or MySQL database. The data fields should be clearly identified in column names, typically as the first row or in table definitions. Ann M.
