Please join representatives from the USDA Southwest Climate Hub and
the DOI Southwest Climate Science Center for a compelling session on
science-oriented partnerships that lead to effective stakeholder
engagement, both critical for informed decision-making in an era of
rapid climate and environmental change, at the annual American
Geophysical Union (AGU) fall meeting in San Francisco, CA, Dec. 14-18, 2015.
Speakers include Dr. Kelly Redmond (NOAA Western Regional Climate
Center, Desert Research Institute), Dr. Stephen Jackson (USGS, DOI
Southwest Climate Science Center), and Dr. Christopher Swanston (USDA
Forest Service, Northern Forests Climate Hub).
Please submit an abstract for an oral and/or poster presentation!

Session ID#: 9078
Session Description:
Across the globe, there is a multitude of climate programs. These
climate programs vary in organizational structure and leadership but
share broadly similar missions focused on advancing climate science
and delivering applicable climate information to stakeholders. Using
the USA as an example, programs may consist of university
investigators (e.g., NOAA Regional Integrated Sciences and
Assessments (RISA) teams); public-private partnerships (e.g.,
Landscape Conservation Cooperatives); government-university
partnerships (USDI Climate Science Centers); federal government-led
programs (e.g., USDA Regional Climate Hubs); or federal-State
government partnerships (e.g., regional climate centers). At a
general level, there is overlap between climate programs but their
specific mission goals differ and apply to different groups of
stakeholders. This session invites presenters to share their program
successes and challenges in connecting to stakeholders. Of particular
interest are synergies between programs, where successful
partnerships at regional, national or international scales have
resulted in tangible benefits to stakeholders.
