We are one of the region’s premier natural lands protection organizations and one of the first to be fully accredited by the Lands Trust Accreditation Commission. The Conservancy’s thirty-eight forest preserves represent over 5,400 acres, thirty miles of trails and thirty miles of protected streams. The majority of acreage is open for public recreation year-round. In addition, LCC has an Urban Greening Program that seeks to steward Lancaster’s urban environment by conserving rainwater through rain barrels, tree planting, pervious surfaces, green roofs and the development of backyard habitats. Recognizing the lack of understanding of the value of nature, the LCC focuses many programs on the education of both children and adults. These education programs are part of the Susquehanna Riverlands Research and Education Center located at the Climber’s Run preserve. In collaboration with local universities, colleges, schools businesses and civic groups throughout the county LCC has become a leader in attempting to eliminate nature-deficit in the community. Profile of Candidate: The Executive Director (ED) must have a demonstrated record of success in a variety of leadership, management, finance and fundraising. Experience in land-protection programs is preferred.
