Africa Conservation Officer Rainforest Trust seeks an experienced protected area conservationist to manage projects with our in-country partners across Africa. Rainforest Trust is a 501c3 non-profit organization founded in 1988. Partnering with the most respected conservation organizations in other countries, Rainforest Trust supports the protection of critical tropical habitat for endangered species through local partnership. To date, we have saved over 8 million tropical forest acres. We are an efficient organization, earning the top 4-star rating from Charity Navigator. The successful candidate for this position will work under our Conservation Manager.
Duties Include: . The position is ultimately responsible for the supervision and management of Rainforest Trust projects in Africa. . Coordinate closely with in-country partners and staff. . Identify and steward prospective partners and projects to create new protected areas in Africa. . Review and meet all reporting deadlines. . Participate actively in project fundraising efforts. . Prepare and submit timely monthly reports on projects in Africa. . Organize donor trips to visit project sites. Qualifications: A minimum of three years prior experience with conservation and project management in Africa and a personal passion for conservation and wildlife is essential. Other requirements: . Masters/Ph.D. and/or significant experience in conservation biology, environmental sciences, or related field preferable. . Proven involvement in a wide range of organizations and stakeholders in Africa (NGOs, government, community organizations, etc.). . Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English. . Fluency or proficiency in French. . Efficient, self-starting, and excellent organizational skills. . Ability and willingness to travel across Africa. . Must be authorized to work in the US.
