The Environmental Health major
(http://www.esf.edu/environmentalscience/envhealth/) was established in 2014
with the goal of preparing students to move into governmental, NGO or
graduate academic positions under the broad range of careers that comprise
the field of Environmental Health.

About the College: Founded in 1911, the State University of New York
College of Environmental Science and Forestry (ESF) is the nation’s oldest
and most respected school dedicated to the study of the environment,
developing renewable technologies and building a sustainable future. The
ESF main campus is in Syracuse, NY and has regional campuses throughout
Central New York and the Adirondack Park. ESF consistently earns high
rankings in US News and World Report, Forbes, Peterson's Guide, The
Washington Monthly, Princeton Review and other national college guidebooks.
SUNY-ESF provides an intimate small-college atmosphere with a low
student/faculty ratio that allows for personal attention and assistance for
students. ESF is a Ph.D degree granting college, one of 9 in the 64
college/university SUNY system, and is designated a Carnegie RU/H (Research
University/High Activity) school. Integration of research and teaching is
emphasized and the college has a strong undergraduate research program where
advanced undergraduate students regularly work with graduate students and
faculty. SUNY-ESF has 9 regional campuses/field stations and maintains
nearly 25,000 acres in college properties offering excellent opportunities
for field-based research. Access to chemical instrumentation on the campus
is excellent. In addition, the ESF campus is contiguous with that of
Syracuse University and in close proximity to SUNY Upstate Medical
University, giving students and faculty the added resources of a larger
institution of higher education, including a wide array of courses, computer
and library facilities. The Syracuse Veterans Administration Hospital,
Upstate Medical University Hospital, Crouse Hospital and Upstate Golisano
Children’s Hospital are all within walking distance from the campus, and
offer extensive research and collaborative opportunities for health related
projects.
