The Biology Program in the School of Science and Computer Engineering at the 
University of Houston-Clear Lake (UHCL) invites applications for a tenure-track 
Assistant Professor Faculty position to begin in August 2016.

The successful candidate is expected to teach courses in general microbiology, 
environmental and public health microbiology, and laboratories associated with 
these courses, as well as to develop other courses within his/her 
specialization area or to meet the needs of the program. This position has a 
normal teaching load of nine credit hours per semester, comprised of 
undergraduate and graduate (M.S.) courses. The selected candidate is also 
expected to develop and maintain an independent and active research program, 
advise undergraduate and master's level graduate students, supervise master's 
thesis projects and undergraduate student research, and provide service to the 
profession, university and program. Preference will be given to individuals 
with post-doctoral and classroom teaching experience. A Ph.D. in microbiology 
or a closely related area is required, with research emphasis in one or more of 
the following: environmental microbiology, microbial ecology, medical 
microbiology or host-pathogen interactions.
