I've appreciated the information shared in this thread, so I'd like to add one more resource. Conseris (www.conseris.io/) is a brand new browser-based and mobile app designed for field data collection. You design your own project and data collection form (text/number fields, GPS coords from phone, images, restricted vocabulary fields), and you can have as many users on a project as you want. You can also import a data file to prepopulate certain fields. For example, you can pull a taxon list from USDA plants or create your own, and then use that instead of a free-text field (great for minimizing QC later on). It also includes an EXPLORE feature that allows you to examine your data and create some interesting and quite beautiful visuals. And of course, you can export all your data to csv.
It's currently free as it's in beta and is available now via Google Play and any day now from Apple. The startup description from www.reddit.com/r/startups is as follows: Name: Conseris Elevator Pitch: Conseris is a data collection and exploration platform. Design a dataset from scratch, gather data via web or mobile, then explore, aggregate, filter, visualize, and share. More Details: This is Kuvio Creative's first project. We're a close-knit team of 3 -- one designer, one developer, and one business analyst. Looking For: Early Adopters Discount: Currently in Public Beta -- create a free account with 1 project and 50MB storage. *********** Brooke Byerley Best, PhD Botanical Research Institute of Texas (BRIT) Fort Worth, Texas 76107 USA
