The Geosciences and Environmental Change Science Center in Lakewood (Denver), 
Colorado is 
hiring several temporary full-time field technicians to help conduct field 
research in the Rocky 
Mountains and the Great Basin this summer. Ideally, applicants will have 
education and experience in 
forest/rangeland ecology or soil science; experience with trace gas sampling 
from soil, forest stand 
measurements, and/or Western plant identification is desired.

POSITION INFORMATION:    Temporary - Full-Time
DUTY LOCATIONS: Few vacancies in the following location: Lakewood, CO 
WHO MAY APPLY:  United States Citizens

DUTIES:
Participate in a 2-4 person team collecting field data in remote locations 
related to disturbance and 
vegetation patterns in the western United States. Study sites will include 
areas recently burned by 
wildfire in the Southern Rocky Mountains (Colorado) and/or the grass/shrublands 
in the Great Basin 
(Idaho, Nevada, Utah). Duties will include: 
•       Measure forest stand properties such as tree species, diameter and 
height. Assess grass, 
herbaceous, and shrub cover biomass.
•       Collect soil and plant samples and assist with processing samples in 
the laboratory.
•       Operate a soil respiration analyzer.
•       Hike up to 6 miles per day carrying <40 lbs of field equipment.
•       Work as a part of a team to organize and assist in field data 
collection.
•       Enter data into computer and report observations in field notes.
•       Prepare samples and perform data analysis.
