I have several MS assistantships and intern positions available immediately. The work will be in forest ecology and/or forest management.
The positions are at Alabama A&M University's Forestry, Ecology and Wildlife Program in Huntsville, Alabama. The projects are focused on various aspects of the ecology and management of mixed forests. The assistantships are for 2 years, while the internships are for 2-3 months, with some possibility for further support. The compensation is $20,000 per year. The Forestry, Ecology, and Wildlife Program at Alabama A&M University is accredited by the Society of American Foresters. It trains undergraduate, MS, and PhD students. North Alabama is heavily forested and beautiful with abundant outdoor recreational opportunities. Desired qualifications: for the inters - good work ethic, ability to work outdoors, and ability or desire to learn how to identify tree and other plant species, and carry out measurements of environmental and vegetation variables. For the graduate students: a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field. Strong academic record and GRE scores. Enthusiasm for and interest in some aspect of forest ecology or forest management.
