Training and Outreach Coordinator
Interested in building an open science training program for the Arctic?
The *Arctic Data Center <https://arcticdata.io/>**at NCEAS*
(https://arcticdata.io/) is looking for the right person to lead our
training activities. The training centers around techniques and
approaches for open science and data-driven synthesis. Training efforts
will include topical foci on Arctic research computing, communication,
collaboration, and other aspects of data science that support scientific
synthesis. The Training and Outreach Coordinator will conduct multiple
workshop-oriented training events each year along with other staff from
the Arctic Data Center, NCEAS, and the LTER Network Communications
Office (NCO). Curricular materials will be open and consistent with
NCEAS’ Open Science for Synthesis <https://www.nceas.ucsb.edu/OSS>
training program.
The Training and Outreach Coordinator works closely with the Principal
Investigators for the Arctic Data Center, the NCO, and other programs to
successfully build a nationally-recognized training and outreach program
that meets the needs of NCEAS’ funded projects as well as the broader
ecological research and communities.
Responsibilities:
• Coordinate, design, and deliver training in open science serving the
needs of the Arctic Data Center and Network Communications Office;
• Collaborate on and develop training content and community training
resources to be shared openly via the Arctic Data Center web site and
other mechanisms;
• Support outreach and general program promotion for the Arctic Data Center;
• Partner with other community programs on the development of
cross-cutting training programs, resources, and funding;
• Lead a team in delivery of a community-wide training and outreach program;
• Mentor graduate and undergraduate interns working on training and
outreach projects;
• Contribute to and participate in training events for the LTER Network
Communications Office serving the broader LTER community;
• Develop and conduct assessments and usability evaluations for tools,
services and trainings
• Collaborate with other staff in research, education, and training; and
program evaluation.
