Looking for a field assistant to help with UC Berkeley ecological research into crop pollination in Ecuador. Research is based in Tena, but involves periodic trips to the surrounding area to take samples at various sites.
Looking for individuals who can commit to at least four weeks between mid-September and mid-December 2016. Individuals who can commit to the whole time will be given preference. All meals, housing and in-country travel will be provided. Round trip airfare to Quito is not covered. Trips for sampling may involve camping or homestays depending on location, and will be up to 8 days long. Although sampling days will be long, hot, and humid, working in remote rainforest areas with some of the highest biodiversity in the world is an unique opportunity with breathtaking experiences! I am looking for individuals with scientific experience, especially ones who have worked in harsh field conditions (and thrived). However, no previous scientific experience necessary. If you are an outdoor person with a willingness to learn then I would love to hear from you! Assistants that stay involved in the project post-field work will have the opportunity to be co-authors on papers coming out of the data collection. Contact me with a resume by 7/25/16 if you are interested ( [email protected]). -- Emily Kearney Ph.D. Candidate Environmental Science, Policy & Management University of California, Berkeley
