Graduate Assistantship On Fuels, Fire Effects, and Fire Ecology in
Mid-Atlantic Forests

An assistantship is available on a project that is examining the
relationship between social perspectives on prescribed burning and
prescribed fire effects on ecosystems. This assistantship will involve
analysis of pre and post fire data on fuels and vegetation characteristics
and modeling of future vegetation development and fire behavior. The
assistantship is available for the academic year and also includes financial
support for the summer. Successful applicants should have a BS or MS in a
relevant field of study, a strong interest in fire and vegetation ecology,
climate change, and natural resources, the ability to work with an
interdisciplinary research team including resource managers, and strong
writing and communication skills.
