Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering Colorado State University Postdoctoral Fellow Colorado State University’s environmental science and engineering research programs have been ranked No. 7 worldwide by the Academic Ranking of World Universities. The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering is hiring a full-time annual-contract Postdoctoral Fellow to conduct research aimed at understanding the impacts of river and floodplain modifications on hydrologic, geomorphic, and ecological processes. The position is based at the U.S. Geological Survey Fort Collins Science Center (https://www.fort.usgs.gov) in Fort Collins, CO. Responsibilities: The successful candidate will collaborate on research to identify national trends and relationships between water management and shifts in hydro-ecological processes, such as links between levee construction, dam operations, channel modifications, floodplain inundation, riparian habitat, and wetland loss. The researcher will work closely with Dr. Ryan Morrison at Colorado State University and Dr. Quan Dong at the U.S. Geological Survey Fort Collins Science Center. Qualifications: Candidates must have (1) PhD degree in hydrologic sciences, water resources engineering, geomorphology, ecology, or a closely related field; (2) Proficiency with ESRI ArcGIS 10.x; (3) Proficiency in a scripting language commonly used for data analyses, such as R or Matlab; (4) Success in publishing scientific research in peer-reviewed literature; (5) Strong presentation skills; and (6) Experience working both independently and in a team. Preferred Qualifications: (1) Experience in geospatial analysis, environmental flows, and/or hydrodynamic modeling; (2) Record of research using national-scale datasets; (3) Strong statistical background; (4) Excellent written and verbal communication skills; and (5) Experience mentoring graduate students.
