*Position Summary:*

        

A full-time year round Postdoctoral Scientist position is available at The Ecosystems Center of the Marine Biological Laboratory. Duties include participating in the Northeast Climate Science Center as a research fellow and in a project to assess the impacts of climate change on the resilience of coastal marine fishes, with a focus on anadromous herring. The successful candidate will take a leadership role in the project, which may include analysis of historical fish abundances and a field assessments of population dynamics, including PIT tagging, otolith analysis and population dynamics associated with climate.

Review of applications will begin 15 December 2016, and continue until a suitable candidate is found. Preferred start date is January 2017.

*Basic Qualifications:*

        

The successful candidate should possess a Ph. D. in Ecology, Marine Biology or Zoology. Ability to work with minimal supervision as a member of a team, attention to detail, strong organization skills, experience with database management and statistical programs and scientific writing skills, including journal publications, are required. Successful candidate will be expected to spend substantial time in the field and to communicate positively with the public.

*Preferred Qualifications:*

        

Experience with PIT tagging, otolith analysis and population dynamics assessment are a plus.

*Physical Requirements:*

        

This position requires strenuous fieldwork in marine environments (lifting, bending, walking through waist high marine waters) and occasionally in inclement weather. Must be able to work with vertebrate and invertebrate animals and hazardous/harsh chemicals in the laboratory. Irregular hours may include weekend, early morning or late evening work.
