Dear Ecologgers, House gecko of the genus Hemidactylus are usually considered to be strict insectivores. However, I have seen various geckos of this genus feeding on cooked rice, bread or fruits in the garbage bin, from plates and even from the cat's feeding bowl. How about you? Do you have any geckos living in your house and are they feeding on other food than insects? If so, let me know what species, what food and where you observed them by filling out the form in the link below.
I would like to find out how widespread this behaviour is among house geckos, because this may be an important factor in the invasion of these species in many parts of the world. The form consists of only four questions and it should not take much longer than two minutes. https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdxTXVLV5dKTwwUR9fsu0yL4RzGr41EGxomMwoPf06eY36QrQ/viewform?usp=sf_link Thanks for your help, Robbie Weterings
