Hey there,

My name is Gabriel and I am in the process of applying to a few Master's
programs, looking to focus on environmental policy and large-scale climate
change impacts on ecosystems. My aim is to broaden my approach to
environmental issues (environmental policy), while still being involved in
the finer aspects of field research and data analysis. My academic
background is in general ecology with an emphasis in forest ecology, as well
as environmental education and conservation.

Lot of background, but I just wanted to give some context. Now, the heart of
my question lies in whether to pursue an MA or an MS track for my degree. As
an example, one of the schools I will be applying to is Western Washington
University. They offer an MA in Environmental Studies and an MS in
Environmental Science. How can I dive into the policy aspect while still
retaining a focus on ecological research? Advice on how to approach this
situation? Comments on the benefits of pursuing either degree? Thanks!

-Gabriel
