Disease Ecology Lab, University of Wyoming, Laramie.

PhD and/or MS student positions are available for research and training in
wildlife population genomics, conservation genetics, and disease ecology at
the University of Wyoming (UW) in Laramie. The positions are primarily
lab-based within the Ernest Wildlife Genomics and Disease Ecology Laboratory
in the Department of Veterinary Sciences and affiliated programs. Research
will use genomic and other genetic tools to study wildlife populations in
the Rocky Mountain West and/or California, and with intersections with
disease ecology.

The Ernest Wildlife Genomics and Disease Ecology Laboratory is a dynamic and
highly collaborative lab at UW with University of California affiliation and
works with other academic institutions, as well as state, federal, and
non-governmental agencies. There are many opportunities to work with
recognized leaders who apply excellence in science toward wildlife
conservation and management. There are opportunities for an added academic
minor or major in Environment and Natural Resources through our Haub School
affiliation: http://www.uwyo.edu/haub/.  In addition to to research and
course work, responsibilities will include teaching (TA-ing), lab
maintenance tasks, and mentoring other students. Quality mentorship of
trainees of all educational levels, including grad student positions, is a
priority for the laboratory. University of Wyoming hosts excellent wildlife
and ecology science and a collegial academic atmosphere. Laramie is a
wonderful college town of ~ 30,000 and offers easy access to the Rocky
Mountains and outdoor activities including skiing, hiking, climbing,
birding, and fishing & hunting.
