An assistant is required to work on a shadehouse plant experiment in Kourou, French Guiana from end of October 2017 for ¬ 2 months.
I am a PhD student in the final few months of a year long experiment into tropical seedling tolerances. Main duties of the assistant will include collecting data on plant traits and growth, maintaining the experimental set-up​, and data entry. This role will be most suited to current or recent biology students who have an interest in pursuing further studies in plants/tropical ecology. Those without experience in biology or similar are also encouraged to apply if they can show a demonstrable interest in tropical plant ecology. Desirable qualities in the right applicant are attention to detail, willingness to learn, ability to perform repeated tasks to a high standard of precision, ability to work in uncomfortably hot conditions in the tropical outdoors, and enthusiasm. The assistant will receive accommodation and a small stipend in return for 4 days a week of work. Cost of flights and travel are not possible to reimburse.
