Duties: Assist project directors in conducting research on the regeneration of native tree seedlings for restoration of degraded forest and pasture land in Hawaii. Focus will be on nutritional aspects of improved nursery management, site preparation, outplanting success, and early growth. Candidate will be expected to show initiative, independence, and the ability to collaborate with university researchers and professionals in forestry, plant breeding, and related fields. Minimum Qualifications: Regular graduate standing within the University of Hawaii; coursework in forestry, agriculture, or biological science or related fields; interest in plant propagation, reforestation, plant nutrition, or plant-soil interactions.. Desirable Qualifications: Demonstrated skills or previous work experience with plant nursery management, forestry, or restoration ecology. Prior experience with experimental design, data analysis, or guided research. Duration: 02 January to 31 December 2018; renewable on an annual basis pending satisfactory performance and continued availability of funds.
