What are the likely physiological effects of painting the bark of 70+ foot
canopy trees (i.e., Black Oak, Tulip Poplar, Scarlet Oak, Black Oak,
American Beech, Chestnut Oak, Red Maple)? Two coats (primer and top coat)
of exterior latex acrylic paint were applied around the entire
circumference of each tree trunk in the area between one and ten feet from
the ground? How will the paint affect the physiological processes of the
bark, and the physiological processes of the trees? Are there other
effects on the trees or forest that we can expect?
