ANNOUNCEMENT OF FACULTY VACANCY ASSISTANT PROFESSOR OF VERTEBRATE CONSERVATION BIOLOGY The State University of New York College of Environmental Science and Forestry (SUNY-ESF) invites applications for Assistant Professor of Vertebrate Conservation Biology. We seek a highly motivated scientist dedicated to conserving native species and natural communities, and eager to join our nationally and internationally distinguished faculty in training the next generation of conservation biologists and wildlife scientists. We are particularly interested in candidates with a commitment to diversity and inclusiveness. Responsibilities: Research will focus on conservation of vertebrates in terrestrial, freshwater or marine systems, with strong field component and expectation to build an extramurally-supported research program that involves graduate students working in part, but not exclusively, in the northeastern U.S. Teaching will include an undergraduate course in Endangered Species Conservation and a graduate/advanced undergraduate level course in Population Biology, plus a field course in area of specialty. Other responsibilities include mentoring of undergraduates in the Conservation Biology and Wildlife Sciences Programs (http://www.esf.edu/efb/consbio/ and http://www.esf.edu/efb/wildlife/). Required Qualifications: • Ph.D. degree in Conservation Biology, Vertebrate Ecology and Biology, Population Biology, Wildlife Science, or related field. • Demonstrated research emphasis pertinent to vertebrate conservation biology. Preferred Qualifications: • Evidence of creativity, quality, and productivity in research • Evidence of ability to maintain an active, extramurally-funded research program • Demonstrated excellence and innovation in teaching at undergraduate and graduate levels • Prior experience working closely with or within conservation organizations (governmental or non-governmental) The Department, College and Broader Community: The Vertebrate Conservation Biologist will be housed within the Department of Environmental and Forest Biology at SUNY-ESF (http://www.esf.edu/efb/), which is also home to the historic Roosevelt Wild Life Station (http://www.esf.edu/rwls/), one of several research institutes and centers focused on applied conservation at the college (see www.esf.edu/research/ric.htm).
