Head of the Department of Fish, Wildlife and Conservation Ecology, New Mexico State University Candidates must have the qualifications to attain Professor or equivalent with a doctorate in wildlife biology, fishery biology, biology, or related field with demonstrated evidence of leadership and administrative experience. Academic teaching proficiency and evidence of a strong research program is required. Ability to promote the Department to the college, university, industry, granting agencies, and state and federal resource agencies, serve as an advocate for the Department and ability to implement the Department’s vision is essential. The Department Head is expected to provide proactive, effective leadership while fostering positive working relationships among faculty, staff, and students within and among academic and extension departments. The Department Head is expected to teach one upper division course in their area of specialty annually. A commitment to strengthening teaching and research programs through development of grant support is highly desirable. The Department includes the U.S.G.S.
