It is always interesting to get Home Power magazine and see
what people are doing to harvest energy. This issue had two
profiles of Guerrilla solar with pictures of the
owners wearing ski masks and looking sinister.

Several of the letters were about guerrilla solar and one can
only conclude Home Power is actively promoting civil
disobedience. Don't know what is going to come of all this,
but it will be fun to watch.

The latest issue is 160 pages and seems to get bigger every
month. What is even more interesting is they practically
give it away to libraries and i believe it is on their web
page at:

  http:/www.homepower.com

It has been fun watching this home grown magazine develop
into a professional voice for alternative energy and still
remain centered at a remote site in Oregon.

In addition to technical articles there is homespun column
which talks about solar cooking and getting a bee hive. Most
of the articles would only interest people with technical
interests or a strong desire to be energy independent. A
small minority at present. I have donated a copy
to our local library and Julie watches the statistics on how
much it is used. Looks like the interest is steady and about
the same as Time and Newsweek.

I just read where the nuclear industry has donated over a
million dollars to political campaigns and is mounting a
large lobbying effort to force a waste storage site.
Depressing, but we can always read HomePower and get a
positive vision for the future.
