Doug...again the idea sounds good. In fact might even work fairly well.  But 
inside a modern, tight energy efficient home you might have problems with 
ventilation, humidity etc.

And of course it's look/design.  Not as simple as it sounds.  And how many 
people would be willing to clean it out as often as needed.  And if you 
simple let it age you'll need some sort of special container that is sealed 
well, and easily cleaned out....back to Clivus type designs.

If you use only gravity like in an outhouse..you'll get odor...and like you 
said you would never get a Certificate of Occupancy. 

Again we do not disagree on the need for a better way than wasteful 
flushing...but if the solution is not accepted, and adopted due to building 
codes, odors, attitudes whatever...we need a better solution so that 
everybody will hopefullly espouse it!
