For the last week i've played a game with one robin.
It gets under the net covering our blueberries and
each morning i go out and help it out from under the
net. It then flies off and scolds me from the nearest
tree. For the few seconds i hold it in my hand we
look at each other. As best i can tell the robin is
irritated and indignant.

Anyway, i happened to see a new book in the library
on robins and here are some facts from the book.

* Robins migrate from the south at an average speed
of 38 miles per day. They linger along the way
and often the robins we see are just passing through.

* The major predators are house cats and hawks.

* A nesting shelf may encourage robins to stay. Size
  should be: opening (7.5 x 8.5) back (8.5 x 9.5) and
  roof (7x10)

* The robin is America's most widespread song bird.

* Robins like dripping water and crab apples, blackberry,
hawthorn, hemlock, maple, mulberry, buckthorn, raspberry,
blueberry, elderberry, grape, honeysuckle, rose, and
  persimmon.
