My wife, Michiko, and I found an interesting tea cup the other day. On it
was written, in Japanese, "Ten Points to Health". I thought some of you
might enjoy it. There are a couple of things in it that are culture
specific, but each culture has its own wisdom to share with the rest of the
world. It can't be an old saying, but some of the ideas do go back far
into Japanese cultural thinking.

Ten Points to Health

1. Less meat, more vegetables.
2. Less salt, more vinegar.
3. Less sugar, more fruit.
4. Less eating, more chewing.
5. Less clothing, more bathing.
6. Less chatting, more action.
7. Less greed, more giving.
8. Less worry, more sleep.
9. Less driving, more walking.
10. Less anger, more laughter.

Note: Number 5 is talking about the idea that wearing a lot of clothing to
keep warm is not as good as being active. The Japanese also bathe at night
to warm themselves up before going to bed. It also gets the blood
circulating, and therefore has similar benefits to being active. And a
Japanese bath is VERY relaxing. It is one of the few Japanese elements we
put in our house! My wife can't imagine not having a soaking tub.
