We have one tree that Julie claims tastes just like butterscotch
and is always eaten fresh. Generally the butterscotch pears
are consumed within ten feet of the tree and we have never managed
to store any.
My reply:
If the butterscotch taste is as strong as a "butterscotch candy" it is
probably Chojuro...if it is fairly faint, probably Yali...In general
Asians are very susceptible to fireblight, an important consideration.
