It is interesting that our happiness is partially controlled by the
culture surrounding us. If everyone is deprived of oil then we will
adjust, but if we are the only one without it we feel deprived. This
has been proven many times. One person in a poor village who has the
only cow can be very happy and feel rich but move this person into
downtown Beverly Hills and they would be miserable.

I find Jay Hanson's views too negative and the data at dieoff.org looks
a little biased. Still, the basic trends are real and it would be
a mistake to ignore them. There are lots of positive acts and ways
we can enjoy life and deal with these energy questions but you won't
find this at dieoff.org. This site is saying it is too late.. Our
world will soon end.
