The CPI has been the target of manipulations from the beginning in the
early seventies. During the Raygun years, manipulation was taken to new
highs. Now it has become another tool to manipulate the electorate. Look
at the history and each item and its weight.

If it is seasonal then what is the price of heating oil? I know demand is
down because of a warm winter but prices there are also low.

Our entire economy, culture, etc is based almost entirely on cheap
oil. Any disruptions there, and sever price hikes will affect us all much
like the now almost forgotten hikes of the seventies, well over 20 years ago.
