The Landscaping Revolution

This is an anti-lawn book full of facts
and alternatives. Here is a sample:

In some western states 75 percent of their
  water is used for lawns.

Native plants often use less water, require
little care, and are more interesting.

The EPA estimates American lawns use 25 million
pounds of herbicides and 30 million pounds of
pesticides each year. Seldom are they needed
and evidence suggests they do serious harm to
  our health.

Earth care begins at home by connecting with
nature. The only way to connect our children
is to build habitat and connect ourselves.

High Tech, High Touch
Technology and our search for meaning.

Technology now saturates our culture and uses its
inventions propagate a positive view of itself. We feel
good about exploring new technology and prefer to ignore
the long term impacts. This strange ability to only look
at the benefits of technology is sold by constant
advertising, education, and the media. This is old news to
most of us. The one thing i found interesting was a
paragraph in the back of the book describing how this book
impacted one of the authors. They decided to stop watching
TV to see what impact it would have. The results were
impressive. This small act connected the family members
  and turned their life around.
