Interest in matsutake mushrooms is increasing in this
area and now a web site exists:

Mostly this is of interest to people with nearby
forests and interest in mushrooms.

In other mushroom news, a new fungi has appeared
in California. Estimates are that it will
kill all the costal oaks in a few years.

A study by "Harley and Smith" concluded that most
plants can have mycorrrhizal relationships (beneficial
fungi). They also found that plants with nutrient
deficiencies attract fungi and when moved to nutrient
rich soil the fungi are no longer present. Is this
another clue about how soils work?
