  All About Hydraulic Ram Pumps

One person in a 100,000 have interest in these pumps or even know
what they are <grin>. You probably want to skip this.

This is a small book of about 40 pages that describes
building your own pump. It looks possible if a good hardware
store is nearby (some of the fittings might be hard to find).
Anyone considering a ram pump should read this book first. It
gives lots of facts and advice. Their address is:

  Atlas Publications
  PO. Box 265
  Murphy, NC 28906
  (704) 494-3011

Generally it takes a water flow of about 4 gallons per minute
and a drop of about 5 feet to drive a pump. If that isn't
available then forget it.

The ideal site would be one without electricity or where
electricity is expensive. Another possible use would be for
low flow streams where dependability is more important than
large quantities of water.
