My favorite writer of biology books is Sue Hubbell. Her books mix factual information with entertaining stories and manage to win numerous awards at the same time. Anyone who has read her "Broadsides from another Order" will remember the descriptions of bees. She now has a new book out called "Waiting for Aphrodite" which i'm half way through. It is also available on disk or tape for those of us with failing eyesight. Once again she makes topics such as earthworms and sponges into a adventure of discovery. If you like nature then get these books. Descriptions of Sue Hubbell call her a naturalist or talk about biology. For me the books are closer to ecology. The following definition of ecology gives a hint as to how Sue Hubbell views her topic. Ecology is biology in context. When talking about various types of life she might go back a few million years or give a history of all the researchers who have contributed. All this is mixed with interviews of current researchers and the mysteries they are trying to unravel. Good stuff. jeff
